Dr. Andrei Ignacio Tieng Yu finished the 3-year honors' curriculum preparatory medical degree in B.S. Biology at the Cebu Doctors' College, Cebu City, Philippines in 1990. He then proceeded to the Cebu Doctors' College of Medicine for his Doctor of Medicine Degree and graduated in the top 10 of his class in 1994. After completing his Post-Graduate Internship at the Cebu Doctors' Hospital and passing the Philippine Medical Licensure exam in 1996, he then joined the fully accredited Cebu Doctors' Hospital General Residency Training Program. Dr. Yu graduated as Chief Resident in year 2000 and was the recepient of an award of merit for excellence by the department.

Dr. Yu, a Philippine Board Certified surgeon, has been practicing General Surgery since year 2000 and is a Fellow of the Philippine Society of General Surgeons, Philippine College of Surgeons, and Philippine Society of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons. He is an Active Staff Member of 3 tertiary hospitals in Cebu and served as a member of the Board of Directors in the same hospitals in 2006. He is likewise active in the surgical societies holding official posts in the Cebu-Eastern Visayas chapters. Furthermore, he is an Associate Professor at the Cebu Doctors' University College of Medicine.

In his pursuit for advancement, Dr. Yu left his practice to undergo fellowship in HepatoPancreatic & Biliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgery at the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore under the auspices of world renowned HPB and Liver Transplant surgeon A/Prof. KK Madhavan. Currently, there is a lack of trained surgeons in HPB in the Philippines and Dr. Yu is the very first and internationally trained HepatoPancreatic and Biliary Surgeon in Cebu.
